Tech Mahindra To Present Sovereign Education LLM At India AI Impact Summit 2026
Updated on Tue, Feb 10, 2026
For a global leader like Tech Mahindra, technology is driven by building systems that scale with purpose. As India enters a pivotal phase in its AI journey, education stands out as a key opportunity where India-first AI can improve access, address language diversity, and strengthen the country’s sovereign AI future.
This is where Tech Mahindra is stepping forward into a strategic role at the India AI Impact Summit & Expo 2026, to be held from 16–20 February at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
TL;DR
- Tech Mahindra plays a strategic role in the India AI Impact Summit & Expo 2026 under the IndiaAI Mission.
- The company will operationally launch its 8B, education-focused sovereign LLM for Indian languages.
- Project Indus and real-world AI solutions reinforce Tech Mahindra’s India-first AI vision.
Selected by the Government of India as one of 12 key organizations under the IndiaAI Mission, Tech Mahindra is contributing to the national effort to build foundational AI models that are designed for India, built in India, and deployed at scale.
A major milestone at the summit will be the operational launch of the company’s 8-billion-parameter sovereign, education-focused large language model.
Purpose-built to support Indian languages and 37+ dialects, the education LLM reflects a clear focus on inclusion, accessibility, and real-world relevance. Designed for deployment across classrooms, institutions, and communities, the model addresses long-standing challenges of language diversity and uneven access to learning.
Its emphasis on efficiency and lower total cost of ownership makes AI adoption more viable for schools and educational systems nationwide.
This work directly advances the strategic priorities of the IndiaAI Mission of strengthening sovereign AI capabilities, accelerating the Digital India vision, and enabling innovation across startups and SMEs through accessible AI foundations.
Tech Mahindra’s approach is anchored in the summit’s core pillars of People, Planet, and Progress. The company is focused on building AI systems that serve real societal needs, developing responsible and efficient models that support sustainability use cases, and enabling a shift from experimentation to meaningful, real-world deployment.
Driving this effort forward is Project Indus, Tech Mahindra’s sovereign, Indic-first LLM developed by its Research Hub Makers Lab. Project Indus prioritizes rigorous data quality, bias detection, and practical performance over sheer scale.

Beyond education, Tech Mahindra will also showcase Panchang Intelligence for long-range rainfall prediction and AtmanirbharKrishi, a unified digital platform empowering farmers with timely weather and agricultural insights.
As India accelerates its AI ambitions, Tech Mahindra’s contributions highlight the importance of building with intent. By aligning advanced technology with national priorities, the company is laying foundations that extend beyond the summit itself.
Taking together, these efforts mark a turning point in India’s AI trajectory. The next phase of India’s AI journey will be driven by impact, responsibility, and relevance across the nation.
