Bharti Airtel Taps Global Partners Amid AI, Cloud, And Green Energy Expansion

Indian businesses are racing to adopt the digital-first model for the sub-continent's quickly growing population. Hence, the need to develop and deploy the right technologies is heating up. From scaling AI services to partnering with global brands, the pressure is on to build infrastructure that can do it all.

Stepping into this space with confidence is Indian multinational telecom Bharti Airtel, launching two new offerings designed to fuel digital transformation at home and abroad.

It has launched Airtel Cloud, a sovereign, telco-grade cloud platform built in India, designed to manage Airtel’s high-volume needs, handling up to 140 crore transactions per minute. It is now open for Indian businesses and telecoms, unifying AI, cloud, and digital services.

Hosted on sustainable next-gen data centers and powered by GenAI-based provisioning, the platform promises up to 40% cost optimization while ensuring full data control within India.

Alongside the cloud platform, Airtel’s digital arm Xtelify also introduced a comprehensive AI-powered software suite for global telecom operators, featuring a converged data engine, real-time workforce management, and customer experience tools to cut operational complexity and improve revenue metrics.

The launch of Airtel Cloud was marked by three global partnerships. Xtelify will deploy ‘Xtelify Work’ with Singtel to optimize fleet and task management with AI. Its partnership with Globe Telecom in the Philippines will help in implementing ‘Xtelify Serve’ to enhance omni-channel customer service. Finally, Airtel Africa will integrate multiple Xtelify platforms to strengthen fraud protection, customer engagement, and field operations across 14 countries.

“It is a very pivotal moment in our history as we take our world class, home grown platforms of Airtel Cloud and software solutions to businesses in India and telcos all over the world,” said Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and MD, Bharti Airtel.

“All controls of our cloud will reside strictly within the country ensuring zero possibility of any entity outside India being able to access any part of this data or its working,” he added.

As Airtel continues advancing its digital infrastructure through Xtelify, its data center arm, Nxtra, is moving in lockstep on the sustainability front.

Strengthening its partnership with AMPIN Energy Transition, Nxtra has signed a new power-wheeling agreement for 125.65 MW of solar-wind hybrid energy via Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) projects. The move adds 205,167 MWh of green energy annually, reducing Nxtra’s carbon emissions by nearly 149,156 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent every year.


With this expansion, Nxtra’s renewable energy capacity with AMPIN now exceeds 200 MW, reinforcing its leadership in green data centre operations. The new supply, sourced from ISTS, connected solar-wind hybrid projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka, will be rolled out in phases, extending Nxtra’s clean energy reach to 11 additional states.

AMPIN, already powering Nxtra sites in Indian states such as Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha, will now serve as the sole Independent Power Producer, delivering seamless renewable energy nationwide.

Just days after Nxtra by Airtel partnered with AMPIN Energy to scale its clean energy footprint across 11 more states, Airtel announced another bold step–this time in the AI space.

In a first-of-its-kind partnership, Airtel has joined hands with AI-native search engine Perplexity to offer a free one-year Perplexity Pro subscription worth ₹17,000 (roughly $200) to its 360 million users across mobile, broadband, and DTH.

Perplexity Pro brings real-time, conversational search powered by advanced AI models like GPT-4.1 and Claude, along with tools for image generation, file analysis, and deep research, accessible through the Airtel Thanks app.
