Onetrust CORIE Governs AI Agents At Machine Speed
OneTrust introduces CORIE, a shared intelligence layer built into the OneTrust Platform, to enforce enterprise policies in real time and record agent decisions
LAS VEGAS, Sept. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TrustWeek 2026 -- OneTrust, the AI-Ready Governance Platform™, today introduced OneTrust CORIE (Contextual Orchestration for Reasoning, Intelligence, and Evidence), a shared intelligence layer in the OneTrust Platform. CORIE draws on the existing context and judgment across a company’s privacy, consent, risk, data, and AI programs to enforce rules in real time as agents work across systems—while keeping people in control.
Organizations are already struggling to govern the agents they are encouraging employees to use: OneTrust’s 2026 AI-Ready Governance Report found that 87% of respondents say their organizations encourage agent use, while only 47% say they have clear governance, oversight, and controls. With a projected 1.15 billion active AI agents executing 217 billion actions per day by 2029 (IDC), closing that gap requires a fundamental change in how organizations govern agent activity.
“AI is putting capabilities once reserved for engineering teams into the hands of every employee. The result is a growing network of agents acting across company systems at a speed and scale no governance team can oversee through human effort alone,” said Blake Brannon, Chief Innovation Officer at OneTrust.
“OneTrust CORIE is our answer to this challenge. It uses your organization’s context and judgment to decide what an agent is permitted to do, enforce that decision where you can’t be, and prove what happened. Built to operate where the work happens and separately from the agents it governs, CORIE provides an independent layer of control and accountability. There is innovation in every industry that AI can unlock. CORIE allows businesses to pursue this innovation without losing control.”
CORIE enriches each organization’s governance context—which can span years of consent signals, risk decisions, policies, and controls—with a decade of OneTrust’s accumulated regulatory data and intelligence. With that intelligence continuously updated as requirements evolve, organizations can determine permitted actions, enforce decisions, and capture evidence of what happened, whether using OneTrust’s native agents, customer-built agents, or third-party agents.
Building on the programs companies already run today, OneTrust CORIE becomes the system of intelligence that governs every decision an agent makes. It connects context, decisions, enforcement, and proof, while keeping people in control:
- Organizational context and judgment: CORIE turns policies and governance decisions into rules an agent can apply on every request, learning from teams’ decisions and applying that judgment at scale.
- Runtime enforcement: CORIE enforces those rules at the tool call—allowing an action, stopping it, or flagging it for human review. Rules can also guide agents before they make a plan.
- Independent oversight and evidence: CORIE keeps the system checking a decision separate from the agent making it. It creates a record as the work happens, capturing the agent, request, purpose, outcome, and governing policy.
For example, when a marketing agent requests data it isn’t permitted to use, CORIE enforces the policy at the tool call before the model sees the data. It records the request and the policy behind the denial, providing evidence of how the decision was enforced—so organizations can continue to accelerate growth through AI while increasing trust, auditability, and safety.
